FAITH is an experimental documentary short film created in collaboration with filmmaker Rahim Unlu as a research project during a fellowship in Istanbul. The project originated from an encounter with members of the Afghan community who live and work as paper collectors in the ruins behind the Süleymaniye Mosque, in the Vefa neighborhood of Istanbul’s Fatih district.
The essay unfolds as a rhythmic sequence of atmospheric still images, interspersed with footage from suburban areas of the city. The accompanying soundscape evokes the mood and rhythm of the urban environments depicted, offering a contemplative reflection on the spaces and lives encountered.
